Ramaswamy Goes on the Attack in First Republican Presidential Debate

Vivek Ramaswamy pushed his way through the field in the first Republican Presidential debate Wednesday.

Ramaswamy took heat from the crowd early on as he accused former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley of positioning for a career in the military industrial complex.

“I wish you well in your future career on the boards of Lockheed and Raytheon,” Ramaswamy said.

Haley pushed back saying “You have no foreign policy experience and it shows."

Ramaswamy also traded words with Vice President Mike Pence for his stance on foreign aid.

Pence hit back at Ramaswamy for his lack of leadership experience.

"Anybody that thinks that we can't solve the problems here in the United States and be the leader of the free world has a pretty small view of the greatest nation on Earth," Pence said.

Pence traded words with Bret Baier, often speaking long past his allotted time as he recounted his record at the White House. Pence was booed by the crowd for dodging a question on the President’s age.

Ramaswamy took the bait and pledged to bring a Regan revolution as the youngest candidate in the field. His campaign speech sounded like a conservative podcast and was met with roaring applause.

“I grew up in 1985 and I grew up into a generation where we were taught to celebrate our diversity and our differences so much that we forgot all of the ways we are really just the same as Americans bound by a common set of ideals that set this nation into motion in 1776,” Ramaswamy said. “And this is our moment to revive those common ideals. God is real. There are two genders. Fossil fuels are a requirement for human prosperity. Reverse racism is racism. An open border is not a border. Parents determine the education of their children. The nuclear family is the greatest form of governance known to man. Capitalism lifts us up from poverty. There are three branches of government, not four, and the U.S. Constitution it is the strongest guarantor of freedom in human history. That is what won us the American Revolution. That is what will win us the revolution of 2024.”

Ramaswamy’s inexperience showed, however, as he traded talking points with Haley and Pence. While he may find a viral clip with his tactics, his focus often shifted away from the questions.

Governor Chris Christie called for a return to “law and order” as the policy at the southern border remained a centerpiece of the debate.

“If we don't stand up against this type of autocratic killing in the world, we will be next," Christie said before facing a question about the recent UAP sightings.

“The job of the president of the united states is to stand for truth,” Christie said, but shifted focus saying that UFOs are less important than fixing America’s education system.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, polling in second to former President Donald Trump, sounded presidential throughout and received the loudest applause from the audience.

“People are tired about funding (foreign aid) over funding America,” Youtuber and former California candidate for governor Meet Kevin said. “People support the constitution. These are some of the common themes we heard get a lot of cheers through this debate. People are tired of talking about the past and they want to talk about the future. What are you actually going to do for us and our families? More IRS agents or more freedom? More constitutional support or more wokeism?”

South Carolina Sen. Tim Scott faced questions about Trump’s pandemic spending.

“There is no doubt that during the Trump administration, when we were dealing with the COVID virus, we spent more money, but here’s what happened at the end of our time in the majority: we had low unemployment, record low unemployment, 3.5% for the majority of the population, and a 70-year low for women. African Americans, Hispanics, and Asians had an all-time low,” Scott said.

Scott remained popular among moderates throughout the debate, refusing to reach for a soundbite as the candidates attacked each other.
